A graduate of the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, Cullen was awarded the Archibald Prize in 2000 for his portrait of actor David Wenham. Throughout his career he exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas, and his work is represented in major public collections including the National Gallery of Australia and the state galleries. Today, Cullen is recognised as one of the most influential and individual Australian artists of his generation, his work continuing to attract strong institutional and collector interest.
